Fibre to the home
FTTH is a more modern way of connecting single dwellings, mutiple dwelling buildings or large industrial estates to high speed, high capacity digital based network. The type of network thepacific.net uses is called a Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network, or more simply GE-PON or often just shortened to a PON. There are several reasons we use this technology and brand of equipment.
- No active equipment in the field, so less things to fail.
- Much less fibre in the ground than traditional “point to point” fibre solutions
- The equipment we use has been designed to deliver multiple services with excellent robustness
There are a wide range of services that can be delivered over such a network.
- Traditional voice circuits (TDM) and/or Voice over IP (VoIP)delivery
- RF video delivery and or IP-TV (200+ channels)
- Video on demand, Pay TV
- Internet through TV
- Online gaming with PC or through TV
- Security monitoring
- Data speeds from 64kb/s to 1Gb/s
